Hellebores are dormant now but gearing up for their winter flowering season. Last season’s leaves can become quite untidy by summer/autumn. Many leaves will remain green and look lovely through the year and they can be left in place, but some leaves which are lying flat on the ground or which have spots or have died back (turned brown) can be cut off in autumn. Sometimes it is necessary to cut off all the leaves, but fresh new leaves will grow next spring. This is also the case for new hellebore
